Simon Peter Matovu is a pastor based in Northern Ireland with a warm, lifelong commitment to helping children discover Jesus in simple, everyday moments. Growing up in Uganda as the son of a Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) director, Simon spent his early years in five-day clubs, Sunday schools, and children’s outreaches. Those experiences, along with further CEF training and study in children’s and youth ministry, laid the foundation for his passion: sharing the Gospel with children in a way they can really understand and enjoy.

Together with his wife, Zoe, he co-founded Obulamu Outreach Ministries, a sponsorship ministry that comes alongside children from low-income families in Uganda, helping them access education, practical support, and everyday care. As parents to four wonderful children—two adopted from Uganda and two born later—Simon and Zoe understand the real world of family life, questions, busy routines, and bedtime stories. That same realness runs through this book.

 

Zoe’s background in Theology and English from Queen’s University Belfast, and her many years serving in children’s and youth ministry in both Uganda and Northern Ireland, have helped shape the language, activities, and tone of these pages. Her love for children and her careful eye for clear, Bible-rooted teaching mean parents can trust that this resource has been created to help children grow in confidence, in truth, and in their own walk with Jesus—gently, joyfully, and one day at a time.
